Once upon a time…

…Amina, a traditional Arabic name with a meaning as genuine as Abruzzo: ‘she who is trustworthy, faithful and sincere in her actions’.
An echo of the Orient for our b&b, as a symbol of openness to travellers from all over the world, as well as a metaphor for our philosophy of welcoming guests with an eye to tradition and family hospitality like that of their own home.
But the story has only just begun. The name, in fact, was also chosen in honour of Mrs Amina, the last owner of the house before its recent restoration and transformation into a tourist accommodation facility. A long-lived witness of another time, Mrs Amina, born in 1920, lived for decades in the historic centre of the village when the sounds, smells and rhythms were so different from those of today, only to move to the new village late in life but never ceasing to tell of the magic of the past.

There was a time when cars were not yet widespread in the village and it was horses, donkeys and people on foot who walked the cobblestones. It was not uncommon to see women like Amina seated in front of the house door or walking on the way back with the copper basin full of water above her head. Echoes of a time actually not too distant, when not even 80 years ago running water did not yet exist in houses but one had to fetch it from the Fontana Grande at the end of the village, a meeting place where laundry was washed between chats. These were the years of homemade pasta and sweets, of the smell of freshly baked bread in the streets, of craft workshops, of children’s games in the streets.
They were the years of the sound of bells to mark a life that flowed slowly…

Philosophy

Staying overnight in our b&b means taking a leap into the history of our country and region. Every detail recalls and wants to immerse you in the traditions of the area, from the restored and repurposed antique furniture to the old hand-embroidered blankets and local pastries. You will also find a library with books on the history of Abruzzo, the Vestina area and Loreto Aprutino. On the walls you will find old maps of the region, paintings by local artists and reproductions of frescoes of the town’s noble residences.

A large forecourt welcomes you as you arrive in front of our residence. This open space with benches will allow you to enjoy the coolness on a summer evening or simply the quiet during the day. You can have a coffee and read a book surrounded by the unique setting of the medieval village, enjoying a moment of relaxation right under your room.

Once through the entrance, a stone staircase will lead you to the first floor, the location of Dimora Amina. The B&B consists of four rooms, all with private bathrooms, and a kitchen with a communal breakfast room.

*On request, the kitchen can be used to prepare one’s own meals and the fridge used to store one’s own food.
